July 11-13, 2008
Iola Car Show
Iola, WI
The weekend is shaping up like this so far;
Friday, July 11
Come on in from where ever you are and gather at Jon and Barb's house.
We can sit around and chat through-out the afternoon
and then make some burgers and Wisconsin Brats on the grill.
Later we can make a small impromptu hearse cruise around the Fox Valley area.
With the price of gas, we can keep it short.
Saturday, July 12
Be on the road around 6:00 am and get to Iola Old Car Show around 7:30 am,
depending on bathroom stops.
This show has literally tens-of-thousands of people go thru per day and
the amount of publicizing we can do as hearsers is unlimited.
There are lots of food and drink stands through-out the grounds,
but they will allow us to bring in coolers.
Makes the day a little cheaper for us.
Bathrooms are readily available also.
Not much shade but we have some canopies.
We'd like to leave the Car Show by around 6:00 pm
and then head through Waupaca, WI and into a couple smaller towns.
We have been invited to Charlie's Drive-In, in Hortonville
for burgers and drinks and they have given us permission
to display our cars for an hour or so.
Afterwards, we can do another cruise thru a couple of towns
on the way back out to Jon and Barb˘s house
where we can sit, cook marshmallows and smores and tell campfire stories.
Sunday. July 13
This is still up in the air.
We know most people will want to get home by a certain time.
Barb will be cooking up a humungous country cooked breakfast
of eggs, toast, pancakes, sausages, potatoes, and all the fixins at 8:00am.
Everyone is invited.
Don't worry about sleeping room.
We have 2 houses with room available.
If you want, we have listings of hotels in the area.
We also have room for a lot of hearses,
so lets get them to Wisconsin and see what type of mayhem we can raise.
Price of gas as of April 26, 2008 is $3.49 per gallon of unleaded.
Total estimated driving, including, Friday night cruise,
Saturday trip to Iola and cruise home, will be about 150 miles.
Your mileage may vary.
